Watching television from local channels was a thing of the past. Since the introduction of cable television, more and more viewers change their interest to it. Although they had to pay subscription, it didn't really matter after a while. Now, with the introduction of dish TV system, more and more people are switching to satellite TV for the same reason.
Since the introduction of satellite system, the competition between them and cable TV has been going on for years. Cable television is constantly releasing new cable programming packages to compete with satellite TV. Cable is surely the losing party because they are fighting and struggling to get more customers and work tremendously hard to keep their business building. The blame for their depleted business can be put on satellite TV because of it offers much more than what the cable is capable of.
Firstly, there is the price competition.
It is clear that the dish services win in this area. Both Dish Network and DirecTV are able to survive with the low price because they have smaller infrastructure and they do not have to pay taxes. This is where cable TV providers loose out. With such low price, cable TV just can't keep up because they have 33% less channels than the satellite television. They also face the problem with their lines buried underground. This is something which is getting outdated with satellite TV receiving their signals from space. Therefore, no upgrade is needed and no extra cost unlike cable TV providers.
The availability of cable TV is also another loosing point. They are very limited by geographical location which means that their customers are limited. Unlike cables, Dish Network and DirecTV have this problem. They can reach anywhere across the sky. Not too mention the programming that is offered by satellite TV. They can provide up to 500 channels from all around the world. They just have no answer for satellite TV's technology.
There is more, satellite TV users can have the chance to use DVR technology. The ability to record programs with a push of a finger. They can use I on all the favorite channels like ESPN, FOX, BBC and many more. By 2009, all TV must be high definition. Therefore, this is another hurdle for cable TV.
No matter what, when it comes to competition, whoever that has the power of technology will emerge as winners. With low price, huge choice of channels plus incredible accessibility, satellite television is here to conquer the world of TV entertainment and works it way to revolutionize it even further in the future.
